Kenilworth Police Chief William Dowd recently announced the receipt of a $1,000 donation from the Kenilworth VFW, Post 2230. This money was donated by the VFW to the department for use in its “Keep Kids Alive, Drive 25” Campaign. Chief Dowd stated the money was used immediately to purchase 100 signs that are currently being placed throughout the Borough. He stated that this is an awareness campaign aimed at reminding motorists of the need to drive at a safe speed because of the many children throughout the area. Chief Dowd praised the local VFW in its generosity. He stated, “The Kenilworth VFW, under the leadership of its Commander, Robert Jeans, has continued to be a very civic minded organization, not only to the Police Department but also to the various organizations in town. Our veterans could not be comprised of a more caring group. Their support of the community has been absolutely outstanding.”

The signs are available at the Police Department. The only stipulation being asked of residents is that they bring them in at night to prevent vandalism or theft. They have also been distributed to the school crossing guards to be placed in the vicinities of their posts.
